Recapping Our First Family Trip With Packing And Beauty Hacks

A couple weeks ago we went on our first family trip as three! The farthest our little girl has gone in a car is about two hours, and that was when she was only three or four months. We didn’t want to go too far being that we didn’t know how she would be, stuck in a car for long periods of time. Growing up every year my family would take a trip together. Whether it was a week long vacation or just a day trip to an amusement park, we always made time to be a family. As our little one grows, I want to make sure we instill that love and importance of family in her.

We decided to drive south to Cincinnati and go for a three day weekend. The drive took about 4 hours and I would give the trip a solid A-. We planned to take our little one to the zoo and the aquarium, but still left us time to do other things if we wished. When we first arrived we decided to go to Eden Park, which was right behind our hotel and enjoy the warm weather.

I am an extreme over packer! My mood has a lot of say in what I wear for the day. Because of this, I typically pack multiple pieces that I can mix and match depending on my mood. Now that I have another person to pack for, my old habits aren’t an option. For the first time, I planned my outfits and only packed those pieces. Ok, well so maybe there was one extra outfit – just in case something were to happen and I needed it! I spent some time and went through my closet and pulled out my outfits along with what accessories I wanted to wear. I had a few of these little velvet drawstring pouches so I put all of my jewelry in the pouches and then put the pouch in the pocket of each bottom. That way I had everything for each outfit all together.

We were planning to be outside a lot that weekend and it was HOT! I wasn’t going to spend time doing my makeup, just to have it sweat off. It was recommended that I use the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. I was told this primer repels water, so it would be perfect for those muggy days. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to make it to Sephora before we left, so I headed over to Ulta to see if they had anything comparable.

The sales associate said that the Becca brand primers were comparable, so I thought I would give it a go. I originally wanted to go with the Ever-Matte Poreless Primer. It claims to be sweat and humidity proof, however, the product I grabbed behind the tester was not the same. I ended up with the First Light Primer. Even though this wasn’t the plan, it worked really well!

We definitely  had a wonderful first trip as a family. Baby girl fell asleep at the zoo and loved seeing the fish at the aquarium. Maybe next year we can go a little further.
