Happy Saturday! On a whim I decided to try something different for today’s post. The last couple of weeks I have been getting the itch to do some redecorating. We can’t do any major changes, but I would love to at least repaint the walls. Another thing I want to do is get a desk. We don’t have the extra space for an office and for right now my office is the dining room table. There may be just enough room for a smaller desk in my dining room. So I thought I would share with you my dream french country style office, but for small spaces.
French Country Style
For the longest time I never really knew what my home decor style was. I knew it definitely wasn’t modern, and country can be a little “country”. We don’t live near the water so nautical isn’t our thing, and rustic can sometimes be too dark. I love things to be bright and light with some touches of character. French country gives me that happy medium of rustic, elegance and coziness.
Like I mentioned, I am having to squeeze an office into a little corner in my dining room. For the time being, there just isn’t enough space for big furniture and tons of decorations. After scouring Pinterest and pinning things into my, For The Day When Chip And Joanna Gaines Come Build Me A House board, I think I have come up with a pretty good set up for myself!
I am trying to fit a desk into my already small dining room. A huge desk is for sure out of the picture. One day, I’ll have a big desk in french style, but for now I need something a little on the smaller side. Going with something I chose here doesn’t exactly fall into the style I am wanting. However, it is giving me the storage I would need without taking up too much room.
In all honestly, I probably won’t be able to have a big chair like the one chosen. One of my existing chairs will most likely get pulled over to the desk. I could probably add a little cushion to it that would still fit my desired style. When it comes to home offices, many people prefer to get traditional office chairs from somewhere like Office Monster, while others prefer furniture that fits in more to the home environment. If you have the space, go for something that makes a statement and will start a conversation. I love this high back chair with button details, but would prefer if the wooden legs were white instead of the dark brown.
Again this is something that will most likely not make it into my little corner haven. This rug is perfect for my theme and really brings the french country style full circle.
Details are going to be game changer in my design. The small touches of French country will really help the over all feel that I am going for. Can you tell I love lavender? I probably won’t have this much, but a little blue and white vase like one pictured with some lavender (fresh or fake) is a must. I love these lanterns as well! Fingers crossed I can find something similar to them that aren’t too pricey and maybe slightly scaled down. I am also in love with these mirrors. They help bring in that little bit of rustic I am looking for.
I hope you like my little design I have come up with! Wish me luck in trying to convince the hubs to let me do it!!!!! What style do you prefer in your house? Let me know below!!
