Happy Valentine’s Day beauties! I hope you all had a great day. Whether you were spending it with your significant other or with gal pals celebrating “Galentines” day, I hope you all had an amazing time. This Valentine’s Day was definitely something special for this household. This was our first Valentine’s Day with the little Diva-In-Training, Shelby. I am still learning how to manage time with a little one who will be turning one in less than a month, a regular 9:00-5:00 job and spending time with my family while pursuing this passion I have for my blog. There were some things I didn’t get to this year, but I will just try to work on them next year.
Art Project
Let’s start the festivities off with some mommy daughter art time. I got the idea for this gift for Da-da from Pinterest. I took the idea of sensory activities and turned it into an art project. All you need is some acrylic paint, a canvas, some glitter and a big zip lock bag. I was able to get these the little canvases from my local craft store in a pack of 5 for $6. The paint was $2 each and the glitter was $3 or $4.
All I did was squeeze the paint in small drops on to the canvas and then placed it in the bag. I put baby girl in her high chair and let her go! Once it seemed she was done I pulled the canvas out and added a little glitter to it before it dried. I also thought about taping a heart to the canvas and then put the paint over top so there would be a design. However, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get the paper heart off without messing up.
Dinner Date
The hubby and I decided to do dinner the Saturday before Valentine’s Day. We went to a local restaurant called Blue Canyon. This is a restaurant where you can go dressed up for a more elegant night out, or you can go wearing a great pair of jeans and a top. This was our third time at this restaurant and it was just as great as the previous two times. It was a very busy night and the kitchen did get behind. We ended up waiting around an hour for our food, but it was still good when we got it. I am still getting use to taking pictures of everything so I apologize for not getting any shots of our date. After an amazing dinner, we came home and…crashed! No more late nights being up with a baby all day!
Outfit
My Valentine’s Day look was mostly pieces from Fashion To Figure. My top is actually the body suit I featured in my Valentine’s Day Looks On A Budget post. I have it to say, it was not as uncomfortable as I was thinking it may be. The leopard pattern is a velvet material on top of a sheer under layer. If you like to take risks, you can wear this top without a cami underneath. I chose the cami look. The top is still currently on sale for $12.99 and is available in sizes 1 and 2.
The skirt is also from Fashion To Figure. It is a high-low cut skirt with an abstract roses pattern overlay. The waistband is fitted across the front, stretchy along back and has a zipper and hook-and-eye closure. I did not realize how low the back of the skirt was until I got it. Since I am 5’4″, the back almost touches the floor when I am standing barefoot. While we were at dinner, it was pretty awesome when a stranger told me she thought my skirt was beautiful! I paired my outfit with black tights from Lane Bryant and black pumps from DSW.
Again, I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day. I would love to hear from you what you did for Valentine’s Day!
Love your outfit babe! Most people wear dresses so I like seeing a 2 piece set 🙂
